Farmers harvesting ginseng with smoke and fog through trees
Washington DC editorial photographer As smoke pours out from a fire to keep the mosquitos away, Larry Harding and his crew, which includes his son, Tyler, and friend Brian Boomer, pick about 40-60 lbs of wild-simulated ginseng â meaning it's planted beneath the natural shade of trees â during harvest season in October. With the high price of wild ginseng, up to $1200 per pound, thieves have targeted his crops multiple times, whom Harding has caught on securtiy cameras hidden around his property.
